ABOUT ME

I've been a full-time personal trainer for about 16 years and fitness is both my life and my passion. While I started out in power-lifting and other strength-related sports, I quickly realized that a good trainer needs to have a more complete toolbox at his disposal. For this reason I have accumulated a multitude of certifications that cover every aspect of fitness.

I take particular joy in restoring movement in people. Sometimes that means improving rotation for an extra 30 yards on your golf drive or finally being able to squat without knee pain. Sometimes it means losing that baby-weight, getting toned, and feeling great about how you look! Let my years of experience guide you on your journey!

RELEASE, LENGTHEN, STRENGTHEN

My approach to fitness is simple: make people move better, make the move often, and watch the pounds melt off! A good fitness program's first goal is not getting injured. If you've tried running, swimming, weight-training or CrossFit and found you hurt yourself, the problem was you either did too much too soon, or incorrectly.

To avoid injuries, I use a system I call "Release, Lengthen and Strengthen" to build a base for my clients so they are bulletproof when it comes to exercise and fitness. It starts with a detailed assessment and a highly individualized exercise program; no cookie-cutter approach here!

RELEASE

First, we figure out which muscles are tight and restricted. Using various tools, like the foam roller and lacrosse ball, we release these muscles so they can function correctly. You'll feel the pain melt away!

LENGTHEN

Then we lengthen them through active stretching and special techniques like Functional Range Conditioning. Without length, a muscle cannot exert force properly and will cause tightness and pain.

STRENGTHEN

Finally we strengthen the muscle in its new, longer range using specific exercises and isometric holds.  This stage is critical, as without strength, a muscle will move back to its short state eventually.
